Cafe Anbesa

For Senait, cooking has been a part of her life since she was a small child. Her greatest teacher has been her mother who cooked for the whole family of nine children, and other relatives, who would enjoy food all together each day, sitting together in a circle.
These experiences shaped Senait, who brings decades of experience running a restaurant in Asmara, Eritrea before moving to the United States.
Since moving to Oakland, Chef Senait specializes in hand made traditional Eritrean cuisines and breakfast foods from the national dish Doro Wot (Chicken), gluten free injera, and Italian-Eritrean style pastas.
This feeling of community connecting together around food is the spirit she brings to Café Anbesa.
