Café con Cariño

by Javi and Clau

Café con Cariño is a women & migrant owned pop-up café run by two best friends — Javi and Claudia. After meeting at a coffee shop, they went on to develop a fierce sisterhood rooted in radical love and liberation, and realized they wanted to build something that was intrinsically anti-capitalist– focused on joy, pleasure, and community care.

Growing up, their parents always showed cariño through food, physical touch, and love– and they wanted Café con Cariño to follow in this tradition.  They knew that they wanted to tell a story of their connection to Latin America, and their diasporic experiences living as migrants in the U.S– with flavor as a connecting point to home.

As Javi + Clau grow their dreams of owning a café space, their coffee project aims to change our collective perceptions of the role of cafés. Where a café can be a place you go to for more than a beverage—they can be central hubs for resource sharing, showcasing art, and organizing our communities. Café con Cariño invites you to be part of this movement to radicalize the café space.
