Cafe Anbesa

Chef Senait comes with decades of experience owninig and running her own restaurant in Asmara, Eritrea. Since moving to Oakland, she specializes in traditional Eritrean cuisines and breakfast foods such as:

  • Entrees like: Doro Wot (Chicken), Injera, Sugo (Eritrean style pasta)
  • Sambusa,
  • Himbasha (celebration bread), and
  • Traditional breakfasts like Shahan Foul (fava beans), Firfir (injera), and egg dishes.

Senait dreams to have a cafe of her own that specializes in spiced teas and coffees.

For Senait, cooking has been a part of her life since she was a small child. Her greatest teacher has been her mother who cooked for the whole family of nine children, and other relatives, who would enjoy food each day, sitting together in a circle.

This feeling of community connecting together around food is the spirit she brings to Café Anbesa.
