BLIND Gurl Bakery

by Chef Jasmine

BLIND Gurl Bakery is an acronym for the attributes that make up Jasmine and her food: Beautiful, Loyal, Independent, Nurturing, and Driven, though she is also visually impaired.

Jasmine grew up in a large family – one of 20 grandkids – where everyone contributed to family meals, and there was always room for dessert. That spirit of loving community and bringing sweetness to people’s lives is the mission behind BLIND Gurl Bakery. Jasmine’s offerings include classic sweets and comfort foods like 7up cake, pound cakes, cheesecakes, banana pudding, cobblers in addition to full holiday meals featuring cajun soul food dishes like beans and rice, gumbo, cornbread, jambalaya, mac and cheese and turkey wings with dressing.

Building on family recipes passed along from her grandmother, Jasmine only uses fresh, seasonal ingredients, and her cakes and dishes are made from scratch and tailored for her customers. For Jasmine, sharing her cooking is sharing the stories of her food, her love to the people she serves, and a reminder to end your day on a sweet note.
